Fun, fun day!

November 30, 2009

We had so much fun today with the kids in the RC!  The team from Artist for Hope brought lot of fun things.  We had fun with a parachute and beach balls!  The kids loved it!

Then we made all kinds of creations with pipe cleaner, they brought every color and design you could imagine.  The kids had a lot of fun with these as well.

Even the big kids got in on the fun!

You can check out their blog here  (different from the blog above) about their trip to Haiti.  They are a great group and we are enjoying having them here at RHFH.

New children in the RC

November 29, 2009

This is Bertha.  She is 32 months old and weighs 22 pounds. This is her fourth time with kwashiorkor.  She has 3 other siblings at home.  Her older brother brought her and her younger brother to the clinic last week.  They both had kwashiorkor. Bertha was worse and we admitted her.  We gave the brother some food and asked them to return in two weeks.  We are hoping by then that we will have sent a few kids home and will have some more space in the RC. This is Evline.  She is 14 months old and 22 pounds.  Her kwashiorkor is so bad that her eyes are swollen shut.  She has 8 siblings at home.  Her papa brought her down to the clinic.  When they saw that she was getting bad he took her to a “doctor” in the village.  The doctor made a some ointment to pass on her for the swelling.  It turned her feet and under her arm pits black.  It also did not work.  She is eating well and can open her eyes now.  This is Fritz.  He is 10 years old and weighs 46 pounds.  He is has kwashiorkor.  There are 7 siblings at home.  Three of his siblings have died.  This is Wideline.  She is 6 years old and weighs 32 pounds.  This is her second time with kwashiorkor.   She also has a fever, cold and vomiting.  This is Alma.  He is 6 years old and weighs 27 pounds.  This is the 5th time with kwashiorkor.  He has 2 siblings at home. This is Therese.  She is 15 months old and weighs 13 pounds.  She is suffering from kwashiorkor for the first time. Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message) 28-30“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Artist for Hope

November 28, 2009

The team from Artist for Hope  arrived safe and sound this afternoon.  I always enjoy meeting new people who are in love with Haiti!  We had lots of fun unpacking supplies this evening.  We have some fun activities planned this week with the kids in the RC.  I heard a rumor about a parachute!  The kids will either freak out or love it.  We plan to take some walks with them as well and show them around Cazale.  God is good and we are excited about this upcoming week.  Have a great Sunday!

Matthew 18:1-3 (The Message)

Whoever Becomes Simple Again

1 At about the same time, the disciples came to Jesus asking, “Who gets the highest rank in God’s kingdom?”

2-5For an answer Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room, and said, “I’m telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you’re not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in. Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God’s kingdom. What’s more, when you receive the childlike on my account, it’s the same as receiving me.

Psalm 116:12-19 (The Message)

12-19 What can I give back to God
for the blessings he’s poured out on me?
I’ll lift high the cup of salvation—a toast to God!
      I’ll pray in the name of God;
I’ll complete what I promised God I’d do,
and I’ll do it together with his people.
When they arrive at the gates of death,
God welcomes those who love him.
Oh, God, here I am, your servant,
your faithful servant: set me free for your service!
I’m ready to offer the thanksgiving sacrifice
and pray in the name of God.
I’ll complete what I promised God I’d do,
and I’ll do it in company with his people,
In the place of worship, in God’s house,
      in Jerusalem, God’s city.
   Hallelujah!

Remember Caroline that was here this summer?  She was an awesome volunteer that came for two months.  She helped us out so much here at RHFH.  She loved on the kids, helped with some many things in the clinic, walked with us, laughed with us, cried with us, encouraged us, loved us and fell in love with this wonderful country of Haiti.  She is coming back to see us at the end of December.  We are so super excited!  She and her friend ,also named Caroline, have come up with a fund-raising idea for RHFH.  They are selling pictures from her trip here.  You can read her post about it here.  You can go to the site here to see the pictures and purchase some if you would like.  We would love for you to get the word out as well to others that might be interested.

Be blessed

November 24, 2009

I will give you rain at the right time, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.  Leviticus 26:4

God has far more in mind than bringing forth one kind of fruit from your life.  The harvest God desires to produce has the potential for abounding variety.

God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work.  2 Corinthians 9:8

I want a thousand things for my children, and I ask without hesitation.  But I want nothing more than for God to be glorified.  The only thing that will matter forever is the glory that came to God through their lives.

He gave Himself for us to redeem  us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for HImself a special people, eager to do good works.  Titus 2:14

Now may the God of peace…equip you with all that is good to do His will, working in us what is leasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever Amen.  Hebrews 13:20-21

Thankful

What did you say Licia?

My papa is coming today…I am so super excited!

Remember my post about Emmanuel?  Well look at him now!  he is doing great on the medika mamba. We are so excited that he is getting better.  We are working on a long-term plan for this cutie.

I wanted to thank each of you that have prayed for us this past month.    We so appreciate it and we feel it!  We also want to thank each of you that have given in the past few weeks.  We have been blown away by the gifts that have been coming in each day.  We are so very thankful to God for all that He has done to keep RHFH going each and every month.

Psalm 37:25-26 (The Message)

 25-26 I once was young, now I’m a graybeard—
not once have I seen an abandoned believer,
or his kids out roaming the streets.
Every day he’s out giving and lending,
      his children making him proud.
