RHFH assumed care for this young boy yesterday, as a physical therapist working on the US Navy Comfort ship brought him to us. It was evident the PT and his staff cared for Pierre with sincere tenderness and kindness. RHFH is grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve this young boy as he recovers. The PT took time to educate our staff how to administer therapy treatments and maximize the potential he has to recooperate.
I tell his story in the video.

Would it be possible to bring him to the US on a medical visa? We live minutes from Gillette Children’s hospital in MN (not to mention the 4 other children’s hospitals!) Also, because of my daughter’s medical needs, we have Courage Center staff who comes to our house weekly. Courage Center specializes in TBI recovery.
That is a good thought, but the PT explored that option and it is not possible because the parents have not been located. If they are, then we can revisit the issue.
You may want to put some pictures on the wall or clipboard for communication. Start with yes,a stick figures nodding, smiling and no,shaking head, frowning. Ask him to gaze at picture when asked a question. Make sure they have enough space between them, so you will be able to understand. You can add pictures as you see fit. My prayers go out to all of you.
Prayers. Will pass on to our OT and see if he wants to help with some sensory items or at least some specifics so we can gather somethings. He has been on my mind all night. I wish that there was a better way to locate people so his parents or a relative can be found. Love, S
Prayers…loving the videos. It really makes it more real for those of us who have not been to Haiti. Keep them coming.
