Four new children……….

Primane went home for summer vacation, about 6 weeks ago.  Her mother came yesterday, she walked into the gate told someone inside the Primane had a fever and was sick, and turned around and left.  She did not talk to anyone in charge or anything.  Primane has lost 5 pounds in 6 weeks.  She is crying a lot and not talking much yet.

Soline is 3 years old.  She has been going through this bout of Kwashiorkor for over a month.  Her mother has been to three other clinics that are closer to her house.  They all gave her syrup medicine to drink.  I ask if they ever talked about what food she needs to give her daughter.  She said no.  We did some basic education with what foods to feed.  Her legs are extrembly swollen and tight.

This is Mailove.  She was burned last Saturday.  Her mother had just delivered a baby. After a baby is delivered, they boil water, then the mother sits on the top of a bucket about half filled with hot water.  The vapors are supposite to come up and keep her insides warm.  Some do it the day the baby is born and some wait a month afterwards.  When I had the boys everyone told me I had to do it to or I would get “cold” inside and never be able to have more kids.  Enoch’s mom was so stressed out when I did not sit on the bucket, with the boiling hot water in it.  Anyway they had boiled the water at the house and set the pot on the ground.  She went over to it and she fell in the water.  Since she lives about 1 hour away and her mom has a new baby she asked us to keep her here for daily dressing changes.  We are hoping she will heal quickly.

This is Louidiane.  She is 5 years old ans weighs 27 pounds.  She has been losing weight for the past few months.  She living fairly close to the RC.  Her father and mother are recently separtated.  The father has not been seen for several weeks and has not provided any money to feed the kids.  Her mother was concerned about her starting school in a few months. She is weak and has no energy.  We are going to try and get weight up some in the next month so that she will be able to go to school.

I have come to realize more and more that the greatest disease and the greatest suffering is to be unwanted, unloved, uncared for, to be shunned by everybody, to be just nobody (to no one).

Thanks for the information. Me this theme too interests. I shall read still.

Oh Licia…I was just so drawn to Mailove…I think part of the reason is because her name is one letter off of my maiden name – “Manlove”. How is it pronounced – MAYLOVE? What a sweet girl. I will pray for her speedy healing – and healing for all of the other children at the center! Sitting on a pot of boiling water is a very strange tradition, but as the Livesays say – TIH!

Question – for the 3 children abandoned, are they eligible to be adopted? How heartbreaking that must be – I can’t imagine the dispair of being “tossed aside” by a parent(s).

I will pray for your strength during the days that Lori and her husband are in the states.

May the Lord give you an extra measure of strength and grace for the days ahead!

    Licia,

A scripture popped out at me the other day that I must have read somewhere online, it is Proverbs 29:7 “The (consistently) righteous man knows and cares for the rights of the poor, but the wicked man has no interest in such knowledge”.

Licia, God calls you righteous! You are righteous first because of the blood of Jesus and because you care for and about the poor you are storing up rewards in Heaven. Be encouraged by this. Also, when your dad, Charles and Lori get home I think Enoch and you need a vacation, maybe you can go to town and stay just you and him. Okay, now I’m meddling. Love, Sharon

Keep your chin up. I know it cannot be easy dealing with all these children that are sick. Just know that you will be rewarded someday! Keep up the good work. God bless!
