News for Monday..

We are still giving about 400 gallons of filter water out per day to the community.  There has been a few people from the government or other organizations that have walked back into our area to access the damage here.  Today the mayor of Cabaret walked a water filter machine in and is filtering water from the river.  It appears to be something you carry on your back, they will not leave it here in the community, but will return to Cabaret with it.   We still have a steady line at our place as well.  There has been several helicopters flying over our place.  Most are UN but there has been a few big US navy ones.  They appear to have loads of food to take to areas that are in need, which is almost everywhere.  They were flying so low yesterday we could wave to the people inside.  All the kids loved that.

Yesterday on the Haitian TV stations they had a day where several music groups and two cell phone companies came together to raise money for the people here in need.  IT was great!  So encouraging to me that so many people were donating supplies and funds for the country.

We are getting ready for clinic tomorrow, not sure how many people will be coming.  We are bringing in at least 14 families that are living in the national school to give them food, soap, shampoo, sheets, etc.  We will also pass them and there families for free in the clinic and give them a special card to be able to pass for free for the next 6 months.  These families have no place else to go and lost everything they had in the flood, even there actual house.

giving out water, some are even coming with cups

Thanks to everyone that has donated funds for the flood relief.  We together, are being able to get clean drinking water to the community!

Matthew 10:42 (NIV)

42And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.”

 Matthew 10: 40-42 (The Message)

40-42“We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God’s messenger. Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing.”

Matye 10:42 (Haitian Creole Version)

42Sa m’ap di nou la a, se vre wi: Nenpòt moun ki va bay yonn nan ti piti sa yo menm yon gode dlo frèt paske se disip mwen li ye, moun sa a p’ap pèdi rekonpans li.

flying over yesterday

These are the pipes from the capped off source.  In one area there were 55  12 foot pipes that were knocked down.  Most have been found, I think there are about 16 missing.  But this is in just one area of the whole system.  Some of those pipes that have been found  are still stuck in the mud and rocks.

You can see the mud side here that knocked down pipes

sticking out of the river bed, this use to be part of the road–where the guy is standing

Here is the tip of one–think we will get that one dug out?

Soline is doing fair.  She is miss attitude when she is hungry and not getting her way.  Jeanne is working with her one on one and loving her.  She is always happy when she getts done eating!

Live has been crazy here  for the past week so we decided to bake a cake with the boys…they loved it.

Hi Licia! I was in awe reading about how God parted the waters and kept you all safe and dry, because God also parted the waters around Haiti Children’s Home, and we are in amazement! Many houses much farther inland from the river than us were invaded by 2 plus feet of water in their houses, and the water didn’t even touch our security wall! It has been a sobering realization of how close we were, but is also a blessing to know that we can now help friends and neighbours begin to start over, and show them God’s love. Our prayers are with you all as you do the same!

We are praying for you all sweet girl. Your servants heart is amazing and humbling. We will be praying for the families that lost their homes as well. I can’t imagine what they are going through. I know the water you all are filtering and giving out is something they will be thankful for for a long time. You all inspire me!
