News from Haiti…….

We gave out food boxes to 117 families yesterday.  Here is one lady that lost everything in her house.  She is standing on the porch and you can see some of the remains of her house behind here.

This is the wall behind the clinic and my house.  Wanted to again thank God for protecting us….check out how high the water line was.

more food being given out

This is Christine. She is 2 months old and weighs 4 pounds.  Mother died shortly after child birth, father is not known.  She had been living with an aunt and not gaining weight.  She had diar, and vomiting. Christine has one brother and one sister that are living and three other siblings that have died.  Pray for little Christine.

This is Emeute.  He is 4 years old and weighs 23 pounds.  He has kwashiorkor.  He has two brothers and one sister and one sibling that has died.  He has some other medical problems as well.

This is Adrien and is is 3 years old and weighs 20 pounds.  He is in the beginning stages of Kwashiorkor.  We were going to admit him last month, but wanted the family to see if they could improve his health at home.  HE was the same weigh with more water retention from the kwashiorkor.  Hoping to catch this early and he should have a short stay.

Elida has been here for several months and was sent to us by the Livesay family and Dr. Jen.  She had Kwashiorkor and was ill.  She recovered well and we have just been waiting on someone to come pick her up for a few months now.

Rose-Betha’s mother died shortly after she and her twin brother were born.  The babies stayed with an aunt when the papa worked.  Buying formula for two babies is hard.  The brother, who was a bit smaller, developed Kwashiorkor.  He died a few weeks later.  Rose-Betha also began to develop this and her father brought her to the clinic in Nov of 07.  She was 5 months old and weighed 9 pounds.

Going home this week 19 and 1/2 pounds.  Her family was so excited and happy.  She is eating solid foods and beginning to walk.

UPDATE OF THE PALLETS:  We have sponsors for 3 1/2 pallets…still have 19 1/2 more to go!
