Lamentations 3:22-24 (The Message)

22-24God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
   How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
   He’s all I’ve got left.

This is Daphca (Dafka).  She was abandoned yesterday on a bench in the clinic.  The lady with her made a chart in the clinic.  She came inside and sat on the bench.  She then asked the lady beside her to watch the child so she could return a plate to someone that she had bought food from outside.  She never returned.  The chart says that she is 7 months old.  She has lots of marks all over her body and she is suffering from kwashiorkor.

The local mayor and judge have been notified about her.  For now she is bunking with Keverly.  Pray for her.  Pray she will begin to drink and eat.  Pray that she will recover from her malnourition.  Pray if it is the Lord’s will for her family to come back.

When they came is was late afternoon.  Several of our staff members could not understand why the family did not bring her down earlier.  This nail cross was tied on her neck.  The grandma and mom said it was to prevent vomiting.  She died that evening around 8pm.

I want to thank all of your for your comments.  Life is not any easier, but I sure feel better.  It helps us so much to know that you are out there and praying and care about us.  Lori and I share an office together, we always, always have praise music playing, it keeps us going.  I am sure you all know this song.  But it has helped me in the last few days.  Remember us this week when you are praising and worshiping the Lord.  Maybe even say a little pray for all of  the missionaries all over the world.  Strenght, protection, favor, love and encouragement.   He is so good, where would we be without him. Take 30 seconds to read the words and think about it.  Would we bless His name if we were in prison bleeding.

In prisoners’ chains
With bleeding stripes
Paul and Silas prayed that night
And in their pain began to sing
Their chains were loosed
And they were free
I bless Your Name
I bless Your Name
I give You honor, give You praise
You are the Life, the Truth, the Way
I bless Your Name
I bless Your Name
Some midnight hour
If you should find
You’re in a prison in your mind
Reach out and praise
Defy those chains
And they will fall
In Jesus’ Name

We bless Your Name
We bless Your Name
We give You honor, give You praise
You are the Life, the Truth, the Way
We bless Your Name
We bless Your Name

You are the Life, the Truth, the Way
We bless Your Name
We bless Your Name

I am blessed by your strength and endurance. May God continue to sustain you and your family as you do what He calls – what a high calling it is!

  2. Christina says:

Just want you to know that I pray for you and for each request! So thankful for how God continually works and provides . . .
I was wondering, did you ever receive the worship CD that I sent from Glen Ellyn Bible Church?

  3. Bekki says:

Fighting the urge to hop a plane – and put D and baby G in my carry-ons! I love you, Licia, and you and Lori are constantly in my heart and prayers. I pray for the babies in your care – and for the ignorance or pride or whatever?? it is that keeps parents from bringing in their babies sooner. Kiss Crislene for me – poor little girl –

  4. Cheryl says:

I love that song by Selah!! The words come back to me time and time again when I am struggling. However my struggles are nothing compared to what you and Lori deal with daily. I think of RHFH often and pray for you and the families you minister to.

  5. Kristy says:

Selah is one of my very favorite worship bands. Licia, We love you and will always pray for you, Lori your dad and your families. Your Dad called a couple of days ago. I got to talk to him in the morning and Jason called him in the evening. It was so great to hear from him. I pray your days get brighter.

  6. Deborah says:

    Dear dear sister,

You give me courage and hope, your heart is an inspiration for me, and I give HIM all the glory for what He has done through you, His faithful servant.

I am sure I will someday be by your side in Haiti if just for a short time.

  7. Kayla says:

Please tell baby G’s Papa that I have hope for her.

  8. Laura Morris says:

I am praying today…especially for little Daphca. Please keep us posted on her situation. My husband and I just returned from Haiti and have fallen in love with this country! We are in the last stages of our homestudy and want to adopt a child from Haiti in the future. Our prayers go out to this precious little girl!
