We are back! We had the best trip that I have every had to the USA in the 15 years I have been here. The only thing that could have been better would have been for all five of us to go out together. We are hoping and praying our next trip that it might happen.
We had great flights to the USA. We had a nice surprise and got to see some friends who are adopting from Heartline at the airport in Haiti. Carmelo was able to have a window seat all the way there and back!
When we took off from Port-au-Prince, the first thing Carmelo said was Henley and Trey were teasing him. I said why? He said they both told him that when you took off that you could not move and plastered to the seat! He loved looking out the window and seeing Haiti from the sky. We did have a nice surprise, dad was flying back from Texas and fixed it up that he could meet us in Chicago and we all three fly into Indiana together. We walked up to the gate and dad came out from behind a post and surprised us! I was thinking how did you get past security and who is going to pick us up in Indy? I was not even thinking that he was going to fly with us. It was a nice surprise. We thought that we would talk on the flight, but dad sat next to someone who had just left Haiti and they talked the whole way back. You just never know when you will meet someone who is interested in Haiti.
Papaw took him to an arcade and had a pocket full of quarters for him to spend.
We had fun explaining about corn and beans in Indiana. We stopped at several places and watched the combine’s harvesting the crops. He asked several times why it was so flat 🙂
We were able to see and stay with three special girls that were adopted from the RC a few years back. Jenna (Rosemene)(not pictured) is doing great and just had a new sister join her from Haiti about 2 months ago.
Loudnie (pictured below far left) is adjusting well and speaking English like all the other kids. She is playing piano and football! These are three of her nephews in the pictures with her.
Madisyn (Mirlande) is doing wonderful. She is in the 10th grade and the same school where Lori and I graduated. She is in the Beta club and seems to really enjoy school. She is talking about college and her future. This is the little 10-year-old that held her family together and took care of everyone when her mother became ill and later died. I could not be happier for her and what she has become. She has a wonderful outlook on life and loves the Lord!
It was cold while we were there. Okay cold for us! The morning we left it was around 30! To cold.
He rode this ride at a carnival. It went upside down. He thought it was really cool. I think next time we might have to find him a roller coaster.
We went to a car and motorcycle show. It was fun. Dad was showing us all the cars like he used to drive when he was a teenager. Carmelo thought that was funny. They were showing all these old cars and papaw used to drive one. So he said he must be really old.
I will post the rest of the picture’s tomorrow. It is good to be back. So many of the kids have changed in the past few weeks. They have gained weight and look so good! Enoch did a great job with the boys. They were glad to see us and loved hearing all the stories from our trip. God is good! Thanks to Lori for all her hard work while I was gone!
