Madelene

December 24, 2010

I wanted you to wake up this Christmas day to the blessing I recieved on Christmas eve.  As I walked by Madelene she called out my name.  I went to her and asked what she wanted.  Fried fish she told me.  I said okay but you must sing for me today.  So I went and got the fried fish.  And she sang to us!  Sang her little heart out.

I have truely fallen in love with this little girl.  It is amazing the amount of damage that can be done from neglect and malnutriton.  But….by the grace of God…. and only by His grace……

She is improving.  She is sitting up.  She is taking her medications and eating.  She is beginning to heal.  I cannot think of a better Christmas present for me (and all of you) today.

The smiling face of Madelene.  TO God be all the Glory!

Take just a minute to read these lyrics from Grace by the Martins

I was in prison, locked up in chains sin held me captive
to sorrow and pain, years of frustrations as love passed me by
until the Master heard my hearts cry

For grace marvelous grace, I needed grace to pardon and make
me whole grace marvelous grace flows from above with infinite love
marvelous grace

I was downhearted I was broken inside praying for mercy with
nowhere to hide, there was a solace searching for me grace
everflowing that set my soul free

For grace marvelous grace I needed grace to pardon and make me
whole grace marvelous grace flows from above with infinite love
marvelous grace

I am forgiven
I am redeemed
A brand new creation He saved me and gave me a reason to sing

Grace, Grace God’s Grace grace that will pardon and cleanse within
Grace, Grace God’s Grace grace that is greater than all our sins

For Grace marvelous grace flows from above with infinite love
Marvelous Grace

Thankful…

December 20, 2010

Several months ago we were cleaning out a large storage area. We had two teams here for the day that helped clean and organize everything.  We had lots of extra supplies.   We were thankful to be well stocked.  Little did we know that Cholera was coming to Cazale.

We have went through cases and cases and cases of gloves this past month.

In the first weekend we used 432 bottles of IV fluids.  WOW!  We were so thankful that we had a good supply on hand to get us through until we could find more to purchase.

We were getting low on infant formula and GLA donated a whole truck load.

Agape Flights has donated ORS, IV fluids and antibiotics to those affected with Cholera.

Lives are being touched, malnourished kids are being fed, babies are getting formula and gaining weight, cholera patients are recovering.

We are so thankful to God for all that He has done for RHFH these past few months.

UPDATE ON DADA…..DARLENS

This is Darlens before he got really sick.  He was a in bad shape in the photo below.

Here in is now.  Amazing!  Thanks be to God.

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:31-33

New Children in the RC

December 18, 2010

Clautude (sister to Erline below sister of baby born in post below).  Clautude is 10 years old and weighs 37 pounds.  She has had two siblings die from fevers.  She has 4 living siblings.

Erline (sister to Clautude above) is 2 years old and weighs 20 pounds.

Rose-Marie is 2 months old and weighs 6 1/2 pounds.  Her mother died shortly after she was born.  Her father cannot care for her and work to provide for his other children.  Rose-Marie will stay in the RC for about 18 months.  She will be walking and off of infant formula by then.  At that time it will be a lot easier for her papa to care for her.

Johnsly is a little guy that weighs in at 5 pounds.  He is a newborn.  His mother died shortly after her was born.

Dave was 2 years old and weighs 11 pounds.  He died this past week.

Madelene below with her babies, as she calls them.  She wants a baby doll with lots of hair so she can comb it and braid it.  Anyone who would like to donated a beautiful brown baby doll for her let me know.  She is doing fair.  She still cannot extend her legs at all.  She has several very deep sores on her hips.  She eats well.  Please continue to pray for her to live.

UPDATE: Someone has offered to send Madelene a baby doll.  Anyone coming to Haiti in the next few weeks?  Would you be willing to carry it in for her.  If so let me know or leave a comment below.

5:15-17 (NIV)
15 He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth;
he saves them from the clutches of the powerful.
16 So the poor have hope,
   and injustice shuts its mouth.

 17 “Blessed is the one whom God corrects;
so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty

Madelene is….

still alive and doing fair.  She is asking for every food that you can imagine.  She wants eggs, potatoes, bread, soup, oatmeal, rice, meat, etc.  He skin is healing in some places and getting worse in others.  She loves to have her hair braided and fixed up.  Please continue to pray for her and her papa.

For Anna and all those that love this little guy

December 6, 2010

True miracles do still happen.

We never told you how close to death Darlens was.  He was taking his last breaths when I put a request up for prayer.  Jess and I ran up the hill to the Cholera house to get help for him.  We were all crying and believed he would die soon.  I said to myself dear God–not Darlens.

Our prayers together worked and by only a pure, true miracle I can post these beautiful pictures of this sweet boy who has stolen the hearts of so many.

Anna stop crying 🙂 To God be all the Glory!

A challenge….are you in?

December 1, 2010

Someone wrote today from TX.  They are willing to match $1000.oo to help families like the one below.  They are giving us 24 hours to meet this goal.  What a huge blessing it would be to bless many families this Christmas season.  I would love it!  Madelene is eating!  Today we gave her a plate of rice with chicken.  She looked at me and said “you are only giving me one plate I need two”  She is a fighter.  We are hoping and praying that her body will be able to recover.  Ready set go!  8:20pm (Haiti time)
